Kevin Parra is the program manager of Cisco's Strategic Security Analytics and Reporting team in Security Marketing. Kevin is responsible for the planning, coordination, development and implementation of Cisco's industry-leading Annual and Midyear Cybersecurity Reports and Global Security Capabilities Benchmark Studies.
As the program manager, Kevin collaborates across a spectrum of Cisco threat researchers, partners, agencies and go-to-market facilitators to advance public awareness of the cyber threat landscape and defender capabilities across various countries and industry verticals-in over 11 languages-and whose content has been featured in leading media such as Fox News, CNBC, Forbes Magazine, The Guardian, SC Magazine and Dark Reading. Kevin has shared industry insights at security-related events such as Cisco Live (Orlando, Milan, Berlin, Barcelona), RSA, and Black Hat US.
Kevin first joined Cisco's Global Government Solutions Group in 2008 supporting the Global Public Sector, Critical Infrastructure, and Trustworthy Networking teams. Highlights from this period include participation in the DHS's Cyber Storm III Exercise and Winner of the DHS 2010 Cybersecurity Challenge, Best Marketing and Publicity Plan.
Prior to joining Cisco, Kevin served the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) as a marketing manager involved with various business-to-business and business-to-consumer sales and marketing initiatives associated with DirecTV, WildBlue high-speed satellite Internet service, wholesale back-office ISP services, and Telispire mobile virtual network operator/enabler (MVNO/MVNE) opportunities.
Kevin holds a Masters of Business Administration in Product Management from The George Washington University, as well as a Master of Arts in Telecommunications and a Bachelors of Arts in Communications from George Mason University.
Prior to enjoying the benefits of civilian life, Kevin served four years of active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps as an artillery fire direction controller and surveyor with the 1st Marine Division and is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield.
